Come and join Pussanee and me for a nice relaxed trail ride From Lake Katherine to Imperial Oak Brewing, located in Willow Springs IL via the Cal Sag and I and M Trails. We will take a break there and enjoy a fine craft beer. Slower riders and electric bikes are most welcome. The ride is all on paved trails so any bike is fine. We will be on our road tandem. As always on these bike and brew rides, the first beer for all riders is on us. Back by 1: 30PM, unless we’re not. The weather forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies early that will become partly cloudy later in the day, plus a stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 95F. Winds SW at 15 to 25 mph. Park on the far East end closer to the trail. Shorter ride due to hot temps. This is my route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47232896

A big long ride this Sunday both for those who want to get a training ride in for the upcoming Double Century, and also for those who just want to have some fun! This route is based off of a route I did before I joined EBC, and this time around it is much safer and better planned out. We start in Villa Park, heading westward in the suburbs to Saint Charles, before meandering into Dekalb and turning south to hit Shabbona for Lunch, before heading back eastward through Kaneville, N Aurora, and Downers Grove. Please not that some larger roads are ridden on in this ride (for very short periods of time), and group riding experience is definitely required Heres the route: https://www.strava.com/routes/3235415185143137330 Planned Stops: 31 Miles in at Walgreens 55 Miles in at CircleK 80 Miles in, at either Shabbona Cafe or Screamers Ice Cream for Lunch 110 Miles in at BP at WVCC 136 Miles in at Shell Im looking to hold us at about 2 Hours 30 minutes of rest time during this trip, as thats about the rate of rest per hour cycling we had during last years DC. If all goes well, we should be home right before 5PM. Please let me know if you are planning on attending! Text me at 630 589 2863

Come join us for a slower ride along Des Plaines River Trail and Greenway. We may stop a few times by the river to explore and take pics. Not a good ride if you have time restraints or want to get from point A to point B the fastest way possible way. Trail is hard pack gravel and any bike with 32 mm or larger tires will work. We will be on single Hybrid bikes. Bring lots of water and food as we will not leave the trail until the break. Restrooms at Independence Grove are open and we will break there after riding the 6 miles loops. As this is a rather distant start point, registration is required so we can know to look for you. Parking is limited so arrive early. The Des Plaines River Trail and Greenway is fast becoming our favorite trail in the area! Because it follows a river and not an old railroad grade the trail is full of twists and turns. The Desplaines River trail winds through beautiful woodlands along The Des Plaines River and goes though many Forest Preserves with stunning water views. Slower riders and electric bikes are most welcome. Pussanee will sweep, so no one left behind. The preserve‘s main entrance is on the south side of Wadsworth Road, east of Route 41 and west of the Des Plaines River Trail. The weather forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high temp of 83F and winds out of the Northwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Join Pussanee and me for a Bike and Brew event. Sugar Grove weather calls for Sunny skies with a high of 80F and winds out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Nice, easy bike and brew ride on the scenic and paved Virgil Gilman and Fox River Trails. If you are a little slower, no problem we will ride the pace of the slowest rider. E-bikes are most welcome. Great River views along the Fox River on the way. Between Batavia and the North Aurora Dam, the Fox River Trail runs along both sides of the river, with the east bank section running through the very beautiful Red Oak and Glenwood Park Forest Preserves. Also in Aurora, the trail runs along both sides of the river for about a mile, between East Illinois Street and East New York Street. The Virgil Gilman has varying landscape, lots of awesome bridges, nice mixtures of open fields and shade cover and travels from quiet forest and prairie lands to bustling neighborhoods in just 11.3 miles, linking a woodsy community college campus with the Village of Montgomery. All paved trails except about 100 yards of limestone on the Virgil, so any bike is fine. There is about a ½ mile road connection through an Industrial area. Midway stop is at Sturdy Shelter Brewing for a fine craft beer. The first beer for all riders at Sturdy Shelter is on Pussanee and me. If you don’t drink beer they have handcrafted house sodas, soft drinks, and other Non-Alcoholic options so whatever your pleasure, the first one is on us. Please kindly register due to remote start. Please park in the back of the College by the bike trail.. This is my 34 mile route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/45239392

We will leave from Pioneer Park, (where there is parking and restroom facilities), take the river path through Knoch Knoll, (restroom break if needed), to Whalen Lake and around, (again restroom break if needed), and then head back the way we came to Pioneer Park for some fellowship at the picnic tables at the end of the ride. Please feel free to bring the beverage or snack of your choice. I have taken this route on several occasions but will be making slight changes throughout the rest of the year to accommodate as many riders as possible. This is a highly social, evening ride that has been a Spring, Summer and Fall tradition since August, 2015, always rolling at the speed-of-fun. :-) We ride as a team and enthusiastically encourage communication, conversation and laughter, as long as riders prescribe to safe practices such as: communicating about obstacles; and maintaining gaps that are appropriate for the speed, terrain and weather conditions. Your bike must have headlights and tail lights. Avoid using retina-burning, overly-bright and strobing lights since we ride trails as a tight pack and are usually separated from car and truck traffic. We try to courteously douse headlights when passing pedestrians and fellow riders as we ride into growing darkness. This ride is often best suited for mountain or fat-tire bikes when riding our crushed limestone routes, but also, quite often the weather and trail conditions make this event viable for most any type of bike. No rider will ever be left behind. We have several bona fide EBC Ride Leaders attending this ride for extra safety. Having said that, please don‘t show up if your bike is not ready or you are not in athletic condition for this distance and pace. Note that 10-12 mph on a trail may take the same effort as 13-16 mph on a road; ...and riding a heavy, fat or mountain bike requires yet additional effort. Our routes vary from one week to the next. Look for route information on our e-mail list server each week before the ride. Let‘s rock!

Let‘s rock!

One of my favorite Century Road Rides - The Holland Hundred is a Saturday ride through local towns near Lake Michigan with distance options of: 18, 36, 67 and 100 miles. It has Moderate terrain with rolling short steep hills or moderate climbs. Choose your own distance and speed. I plan on riding the 100 mile ride at a moderate pace depending who attends. The only organized ride I can think of that offer a pancake breakfast on the route. All proceeds benefit local non-profit organizations managed by Events for Good such as JDRF and Breast Cancer.. Riders may take the course at 7:00am. If you are riding the 100 mile course you are highly encouraged to be on course no later than 8:00am. Support for routes will begin to withdraw in the mid afternoon with all support vehicles off the road by 5:00pm. SAG will only transport riders with mechanical issues to the next rest stop. Your registration fee covers all food (including a pancake breakfast!) and rest stops, a post-ride picnic at the start/finish, tech support at rest stops, SAG for emergencies and a generous donation to our charities

Come and help George celebrate his 65th birthday. No gifts please, your presence is my gift. This will be EBC Pastorino Pool Party number 49 dating back to 2006. We will have easy and moderate MTB rides and Fast and Slower Road/Trail rides to appeal to a wide range of club members. Ron Richards will lead a 55 mile Fast Road ride, Ed Gin will lead a 30-40 mile slower road/trail ride, Pravin Patel will lead an intermediate MTB ride, George and Consigliere Baltimore Ortega will lead an easier MTB ride that Pussanee will sweep. We will have a variety of really good food catered from Spring Forest. Lunch will be followed by a cool off swim in the Pastorino pool, swim suit required. Feel free to bring soft drinks, adult beverages and a side dish to share if you like. Kids and non-riding spouses are encouraged to attend the Party. These parties are also a great way for new members to meet other club members, so come on out, don’t be shy. Some people swim and some people don’t, it’s not a requirement! Lunch from Spring Forest is on the Pastorinos and Ed Gin will have his famous Korean Kalbi (Galbi) Chicken. This event is a ton of fun and has something for everyone. If you can’t make the ride, come to the Picnic/Swim/Food/Beer/Laughter event after, just plan to arrive after 1:15pm. All rides will depart at 9am, try to arrive my 8:30 am and as it is a bit chaotic getting the 4 rides organized and there is a ton of pre-ride socializing. Let‘s rock!

Let‘s rock!
