Des Plaines River Trail & Greenway / ~28-30 mi @ 9-11 mph / George Pastorino

Come join us for a slower ride along Des Plaines River Trail and Greenway. The Des Plaines River Trail and Greenway has become our non-single track favorite trail in the area as it follows a river and not an old railroad grade so there are hundreds of turns which makes the ride more interesting.. The Des Plaines River trail winds through beautiful forests along The Des Plaines River and goes though many Forest Preserves with stunning water views. We will loop Sterling Lake in Van Patten Woos and also Oak Hickory F.P. and Pine Dunes Forest Preserve with a break At Lake Carina. We may stop a few times by the river to explore and take pics. Not a good ride if you have time restraints or want to get from point A to point B the fastest way possible way. Trail is hard pack gravel and any bike with 32 mm or larger tires will work. We will be on road tandem bike with 32’s. Bring lots of water and food as will not leave the trail. We will back by 4:30 pm, unless we're not. As this is a rather distant start point, registration is required so we can know to look for you. Parking is limited so arrive early. Slower riders and e bikes are most welcome.
