Spring Along the Root River Trail Tour
The trip will take place from Wednesday, May 8 to Saturday, May 10. Along with EBC members, members of the Fox Valley Bicycle and Ski Club, (FVB&SC) and members of the Quad Cities Bike Club have been invited to join the trip. Also members of Michigan Recumbent Trikes have been invited to join the tour.
Lodging will be available at the Root River Inn and Suites in Lanesboro, Minnesota, with a block of rooms set aside for group members. Those who register and indicate they plan to take the trip will receive an email from the hotel; final reservations can then be made. The Root River State Trail is a paved multiuse trail that was developed from an abandoned railroad line. The trail is 42 miles long and runs between the Minnesota towns of Fountain and Houston. A branch known as the Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail links to the Root River trail, near its western terminus. To learn more, visit the trail website: Root River Trail.
Riders who take the trip can follow four basic routes, ranging from 22 to 46 miles. Those who register will be sent information on restaurants and attractions in the area.
May is an underappreciated month on the Root River Trail, but one we think has ideal temps, low bike traffic and beautiful signs of spring. Any member of the group can follow this link to choose a room from the block and reserve it with their own information.
Cancellations with a full refund are available up until 2 weeks before the stay (4/24/2024). Between 2 weeks and 1 week, 1 night is charged. The last week before, the whole stay is nonrefundable.
Depending on the size of your group, you may want to consider renting The Back Room @ Paddle On Coffee if you want to do an indoor group gathering. We also offer a Family Feud game experience if you want to have some fun together.
