Calendar - Event View

This location is in the beautiful Cook County Forest Preserves and right on the Desplaines River. The location was chosen not only for it's great brick shelter and riverside location but also for it's fabulous access to road, trail and singletrack MTB rides and hikes. A member could even lead a Kayak/Canoe event right from the grove. Columbia Woods is the eastern trailhead for the Centennial Trail that connects to both the I and M Trail and Cal/Sag Trail/Tinley Creek Trail without going on roads. Rides for 10 to 60 miles can be led all on paved trails. The location gives direct access to the Burr Ride rollers and there are road routes from 20 to 60 miles that can start there. Ron, myself, Vince, Ed and many others have routes from the location. Single track mountain bikers can ride over the bridge and have direct access to all of Palos single track in 3 minutes. Pravin, myself and others have many routes. Hikers can lead hikes at Palos. Ride leaders let's get some rides listed. Contact the ride leaders list above if you need a ride with GPS File or a cue sheet. Rides can start at any time that allows you to be back at the event at noon or shortly after. I also have routes from the location to Elmhurst if you want to ride to the event. We will cater food from a locally owned Willow Springs Deli on the club. Registration is required to get a headcount for food.
