BTTE Bonus – 2nd Annual Tailgate Soup Swap / John Wu
About this event
There are many soup lovers who gather after “Braver Than the Elements” on Sundays at Morton Arboretum. At the 2025 inaugural Tailgate Soup Swap we had homemade chowders, chili, sopa de tortilla, bean/split pea soups, and more. For this year’s swap on 2/22, Valli is thinking about making mushroom barley soup. What about you?
Here’s how it works:
1. Make a big batch of your best/favorite/latest soup. For every quart you bring to the swap, you get to take home a quart of someone else’s specialty.
2. Portion your soup into quart (32 oz) containers that you don’t need returned, like large deli containers or repurposed yogurt cartons. Label them with your name and soup contents.
3. On Sunday 2/22, bring to the Arboretum however many quart containers you’d like to trade. We’ll leave them in our vehicles during the BTTE hike/bike.
4. Immediately following the hike/bike, there will be a Tailgate Soup Swap in the parking lot.
Even if you’re not hiking or biking, you can still participate in the soup swap. Timing is approximate, so be at the Arb parking lot no later than 12pm. We meet at the far end of the main parking lot in the middle row.
We can’t bring outside food into The Ginkgo Room, so we won’t be having homemade soup for lunch on 2/22. It’s simply an exchange to let us enjoy a variety of each other’s delicious soups at home.
