Please, bring plenty of water and snacks for a trail side break. The route includes 4-5 miles of double tracks which can be harder than single tracks in some aspects. Eye protection is required while elbow and knee/sheen pads are recommended.
The Red Gate Woods is located at the western end of the Palos FP off of the Archer Avenue. Use the GPS coordinates, (41.7102259, -87.9135177), in the Google Maps for direction.
Please, note that battery powered bikes are not allowed at the Palos FP by the County regulations.
830am start. Join us for a great Thursday ride to the Village Grind in Oswego with a quick stop at Commissioners on the way out. Vote for Cherry in person; (no emails allowed).
Des Plained River Trail and Greenway Northern Trailhead
15601 W. Russell Rd
Wadsworth, IL 60083
This twisty limescreen trail is spectacular with lake and river views, wildflowers, bridges, covered forests, etc. Any bike will do as it is hardpacked, and very smooth.
We will ride and take scenic/water breaks ~every 30 mins or so. 1.5 hours southbound and then a longer break to rest with a return.
This route was ridden a couple weeks ago and it is a break from most of the limescreen paths I've ridden in the Cook and Dupage Counties. It is very wide and easy to navigate. Come on out for a fun ride. Bring plenty of water and snacks as we plan to be self contained for this jaunt.
Plan to arrive slightly earlier as parking can be limited.

Lombard: Madison Meadows Park Madison St Entrance
This Friday morning tradition just got a little bit better with the addition of the Reverse Munger Loop, increasing both the length and safety of the route. It should be another perfect day, so come out and give it a go!
This road ride will follow Isaac's classic Blue Skies route from Lombard to St. Charles (Panera), including the Munger Loop. I expect to hold the upper end of the posted rolling speed, with optional (read: likely) sprints, but anyone who knows the route is free to take a faster group off the front or bypass the Munger Loop. We will face some hills, rollers, and open road with narrow shoulders, so a road bike and some road riding experience is highly recommended. Ample regroup opportunities. No one will be dropped.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Lombard: Madison Meadows Park Madison St Entrance
We will follow the traditional route from Lombard to the St. Charles Panera with two other rest stops. I will stick with the posted pace but there will be several sprints. Rain cancels

A half-century ride through Chicago and near north suburbs to the original Hackney's location on Harms Road in Glenview. The route features a mix of neighborhoods, city streets and paved trails. One stop each way in addition to lunch. Hackney's is a north suburb institution and this is the original location opened in 1939 featuring great food and outdoor dining next to Harms Woods along the North Branch Bike Trail. Entrees range from $12 to $17. Expect to be back in Elmhurst around 3:30 PM.
I will stick with the advertised 14-16 MPH pace. This is a conversation paced ride, not a fast ride!

2. The roads are well-marked,
3. The roads have very little traffic, and
4. The people of Door County are friendly.
