Elmhurst: Early Bird - 180 W. Park
Update to move event to 5:30
Join us for an early ride from Elmhurst. Approx. an hour or so. This is a road ride on low traffic streets. No stops. Lights are mandatory.
Leader will stay with slowest rider as long as I can keep up. Optional sprints for faster riders.
Rain cancels.
Lombard: Madison Meadows Park Madison St Entrance
Going to try to squeeze one in to a spotty forecast. If roads are damp at start time, but morning forecast is clear, we will ride at a moderated pace. If the afternoon rain forecast creeps into the morning, we will shorten the route. Watch for cancellation by 7:00.
This road ride will follow Isaac's classic Blue Skies route from Lombard to St. Charles (Panera), including the Munger Loop. I expect to hold the upper end of the posted rolling speed, with optional (read: likely) sprints, but anyone who knows the route is free to take a faster group off the front or bypass the Munger Loop. We will face some hills, rollers, and open road with narrow shoulders, so a road bike and some road riding experience is highly recommended. Ample regroup opportunities. No one will be dropped.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Lombard: Madison Meadows Park Madison St Entrance
It's time to head to St. Charles at a moderate pace. We will do the traditional Blue Skies route without Munger. There will be a restroom break on the way out and back. Looks like it will be windy. In case of rain, I will cancel by 7:30. See you there.
Lombard: Madison Meadows Park Madison St Entrance
Warm up on Washington, cruise up Villa, Wooddale, Tonne, circle Busse Woods and return. One brief socially distant stop. Lights are recommended. Rain cancels.

Anticipating light Sunday morning traffic.
Be There, Aloha!

We can't believe this year's Everybody Rides will be our 10th year! We welcome all types of riders to Everybody Rides. We feature a 10 mile trail ride great for the whole family or those new to cycling. This route also has a guided ride with a leader that leaves at 8:30 am. In addition to the trail ride we have a 29, 47 and 62 mile road ride for the more experienced rider. The unique feature of Everybody Rides is our routes allow you to add on more miles if you would like while riding. All you have to do is do an extra "loop" or two depending on how many miles you would like to ride!
As a reminder for for those new here, Everybody Rides is a fundraiser for Project Mobility. Project Mobility is a local nonprofit that provides the freedom of mobility to children, adults and wounded soldiers with disabilities through adaptive cycling.
Due to the pandemic those with disabilities are in need more than ever with more families staying home and doing more outdoor/safe activities such as bike rides.
?It may sound like such a simple activity but to those with mobility challenges (along with the hefty price tag of an adaptive bike) it makes it nearly impossible for them to enjoy the freedom of mobility without our help.
?
Adaptive bikes provide life changing mobility, strength, self-esteem and the ultimate freedom for children, adults and veterans with disabilities. Cycling restores the possibilities to those who are often told by society that their life is about limitations.

Try what is considered the "Sufferfest of the Year" for this supported ride around Blue Mounds, WI.
Three possible routes and start times:
100KM with 5,700' elevation gain @ 7:20 AM
150KM with 9,300' elevation gain @ 7:00 AM
200KM with 10,700' elevation gain @ 6:45 AM
I plan on arriving around 6:15-6:30 to pickup my registration packet and depart at 7:00. I'm undecided whether I will do the 100KM or 150KM, so will start with the 150KM group, as the routes are identical for the first 24 miles, at which time I make a game-time decision whether to carry on with the 150KM route or finish the 100KM route.
So far I know 3 other EBC members who will be riding - if you will be there, please email me so we can figure out a meetup point at the start. This ride requires registration, and is CLOSED, but I currently know 3 people who have registered and will not be able to ride and looking to transfer registration, so if you are interested, LMK and I can connect you. If we don't complete the ride together, you can email me your total distance and I can update the ride sheet.

Day 1 of RAGBRAI from Sergeant Bluff to Ida Grove.
Miles: 53.2
Feet of climb: 2,545
Themes: Air Force 75th Anniversary Celebration, Mile of Silence
Contact Laura Faxon at 630-450-6324 when you've registered to be added to the list of riders. We do not need to ride together but to get credit for the miles ridden, you must send me an email within two days after completing the ride that lists each day and the miles rode, and a line with the total miles ridden. If you are riding in a group then one person can submit the miles for everyone, please include their name and email address.
Overnight Town Info:
Riders reaching Ida Grove will be greeted by castles. The town isn't trying to keep feuding warlords — or cyclists — out. Byron Godbersen, founder of Ida Grove's Midwest Industries, liked castles and made sure castle-like features such as gates and turrets were incorporated into the designs of buildings around the city of 2,050, including his company's plant.
In addition to serving as an overnight town in 2006, Ida Grove, which bills itself as CastleTown, U.S.A., accommodated riders in 1977 and 1988, incorporating castle themes into its festivities.
Day 2 of RAGBRAI is 71.2 miles from Ida Grove to Pocahontas.
Miles: 71.2 miles
Feet of climb: 1,694
Themes: College Jersey Day, PeopleforBikes Day
Contact Laura Faxon at 630-450-6324 when you've registered to be added to the list of riders. If you are riding in a group then one person can submit the miles for everyone, please include their name and email address.
Overnight City Info:
The smallest overnight town on the route, population 1,590, Pocahontas is a first-time RAGBRAI host. It takes its name from the Native American woman, daughter of the Powhatan chief, whose much-romanticized involvement with English settlers in Jamestown, Virginia, inspired tall tales, a William Makepeace Thackeray poem and a Disney animated movie.
Riders will encounter a 25-foot-tall depiction of Pocahontas, standing next to a giant teepee in the city's Princess Park, as they pedal into town
Day 3 of RAGBRAIfrom Pocahontas to Emmetsburg.
Miles: 56.4
Feet of climb: 756
Theme: Dream Team 25th Anniversary

Overnight Town Info:
It's nicknamed "Iowa's Irish Capital" and Dublin is its sister city. Emmetsburg also was an overnight town in 1985, 1993 and 2002.
The ride to Emmetsburg will come in two flavors: pavement or gravel. Riders wanting to brave the dust, ruts and loose stones of the annual gravel ride will have the option of spending all day on the more challenging surface.

Overnight Town Info:
Mason City, also an overnight town in 1985, is the largest community on this year's route.
Though hardly a metropolis, Mason City's downtown is home to two microbreweries, Mason City Brewing and Fat Hill Brewing, which hosted since-promoted ride director Dieter Drake's introduction to Iowa cyclists in 2019. That will likely be good news to riders wanting to quench their thirst after the 100-mile day.
Day 5 of RAGBRAI from Mason City to Charles City.
Miles: 47.9
Feet of climb: 1,260
Themes: Charlie Harper Day, Crazy Socks Day

Overnight Town Info:
The second-biggest city on the 2022 ride, Charles City has the potential to provide some outsize fun, particularly if the riders arrive on a hot day. It's known for its whitewater course on the Cedar River, which flows through the center of town, and hosts the annual Charles City Challenge kayaking competition. Some paddling, tubing and just plain splashing around will almost certainly be on tap for the sweaty travelers.
Riders also can visit the childhood home of the national women’s rights leader Carrie Chapman Catt, which is 3 miles southeast of Charles City. The city has had a lot of experience hosting RAGBRAI, serving as an overnight town in 1982, 1996, 2002, 2010, and 2017.

Overnight Town Info:
West Union last turn as an overnight host was in 2005.
Speaking of water, West Union — also an overnight town in 1987 — has a municipal water park for those who didn't get hydrated enough in Charles City. And Volga River State Recreation Area is nearby.
Start at the Super 8 in Shipshewana, IN. We will ride into Middlebury along the Pumpkinvine Trail for lunch then back to Shipshewana, IN. Plan on meeting at the Super 8. by 10:00 a.m. EASTERN TIME. Here is the link for registering for the Amishland & Lakes Ride: https://www.amishlandandlakes.com/registration

If you are riding in a group then one person can submit the miles for everyone, please include their name and email address.
City Overnight Info:
The final day brings a ride through some of Iowa's finest scenery: the rugged karst topography of the state's slice of the Driftless Area. It also will be strenuous, with the most feet of climb for any day of the route.
