About this event
Looking for a fun fall adventure on various Rail-to-Trail routes on various limestone paths and paved. The full route has 43 miles of non-paved surface (limestone gravel) with a total of 2,559 feet of climbing (20 feet of elevation gain for the entire route). It is an out-n-back route so same route each way. Please bring a bike suitable for this terrain and distance you select.
NOTE: If you are doing the full route, bring lights as we will end at after sunset.
This fall adventure offers 3 route distances and/or meet us along the route to plan your own adventure if you do not want to start in Lombard (contact me to coordinate this). The entire route traverses from Lombard to Wilmont, Wisconsin on 4 various Rail-to-Trail paths which include Great Western Trail, Illinois Prairie Path, Fox River Trail and the Prairie Trail.
There will be options to stop at 4 mileage markers for a total of 40 minutes off the bike with the following amount of time at each stop. NOTE: We will keep this time at each so come prepared to be efficient at each stop.
25.6 miles: 5 minutes in West Dundee
45.5 miles: 5 minutes in McHenry
63.4 miles: 15 minutes in Wilmont, Wisconsin
81.3 miles: 5 minutes in McHenry, Illinois
101 miles: 15 minutes in West Dundee
Please come prepared with ample food and beverage.

There may be some cute fall festive stops along the way from Crystal Lake to Wilmont, Wisconsin and back. It's been a few years since I did this route and recall seeing some the last time I did this, but that was pre-COVID so not sure. Hey, it's an adventure, right?!
